English Fun Competition 2025: English Olympic runway in English at the Potential Main University

Medan, May 19, 2025-In order to arouse the spirit of learning and compete in the field of English, the Potential Potential University successfully held an English Fun Competition 2025, with one of the branches of the race, English Olympic. This activity was held in Building B 4th floor, involving two main laboratories, namely the International Relations Laboratory and Micro Teaching Laboratory, and followed by participants from superior high schools in Medan City. The event began at noon at 14.00 WIB, marked by the opening session held at the International Relations Laboratory. The participants were present on time and were warmly welcomed by the organizing committee. This session began with a remarks from the competition coordinator which emphasized the importance of competition as a means of character formation, development of communication skills, and improving English competencies as a whole.

After the remarks, participants took part in the collection of attendance and debriefing about the rules of the race. This order includes the procedure for implementing exams, ethics in answering questions, as well as the assessment system used during English Olympic. The enthusiasm of participants can be seen from their activeness during the question and answer session, signifying mental and academic readiness that is mature in facing the challenges of the competition. Furthermore, participants were directed towards the Micro Teaching laboratory, where the core implementation of the English Olympic competition. In this session, participants faced various English questions and challenges designed to test their abilities in various aspects, such as grammar, vocabulary, reading comprehension, and speaking. The examination process takes place in an orderly and disciplined manner, monitored directly by two supervisors who are professional lecturers, namely:

The presence of the two lecturers gave a formal atmosphere but still supportive, creating a conducive environment for participants to show their best abilities.

In total there were eight participants who took part in the English Olympic branch, coming from two well -known high schools in Medan:

These participants have gone through a tight selection at their respective school levels before finally representing their institutions in this prestigious event. They not only show academic abilities, but also the spirit of competition, self -confidence, and extraordinary sportsmanship.

English Olympic activities become a forum for self-actualization for students who want to hone and display their English language skills in public and professional examiners. In addition, this activity is also a place for friendship between schools, expanding networks, and building a spirit of healthy competition in the world of education.

Through this activity, students are expected to be motivated to continue to improve their English language skills as a provision to face global challenges in the future. Good language competencies are not only important for academic achievement, but also the main capital in entering the world of work and international relationships. English Fun Competition 2025 is not only about winning or losing, but also about how the participants learn, develop, and grow into young people who dare to appear, think critically, and communicate. The Potential University Utama as the host hopes that this activity will be the beginning of more collaboration between the world of higher education and middle schools in encouraging the quality of English education in Indonesia.
